Following a comprehensive consultation process with 36 clubs across the two Federations, Central Football and Capital Football have agreed to introduce Men's Central League 2 in 2025.
Across both Federations there was strong support for the introduction (or re-introduction) of Men’s Central League 2 with 85% of Central clubs and 79% of Capital clubs in support of the league.
The change in structure follows on from changes made to the National League System in 2021 and the re-introduction of a club-based National League, which to date has proven both popular and successful and provides clubs with a genuine pathway to the top level of the domestic game.
The changes made by Central Football and Capital Football provide an opportunity for more clubs to compete in the National League pathway, closing the gap on and off the field between the current Federation Leagues (Central Federation League and Men’s Capital Premier) and the Men’s Central League.
"This is the culmination of many months worth of consultation and review. We believe this exciting opportunity will provide Central clubs with superior preparation for success in the Central League. Ultimately seeing a clearer and more dynamic pathway into the National League system has already got clubs excited about not only 2025 but the development opportunity for the game and players alike. Be sure to get along to the final few rounds of the season and show your support." - Donald Piper, Federation Operations Manager at Central Football
